Raised gardens are usually constructed from macrocarpa or railway sleepers but there are many other materials which can be used ranging from rock, ponga logs, landscaping timber to name a few. There are many advantages associated with these gardens and these also cover a wide range. The comfort factor (particularly on the back!) is a major benefit and the sides are a seat to use whilst gardening or even for simply providing a peaceful spot to sit and reflect. Weeds are kept to a minimum. Raising the garden can also deal with drainage issues and bring the plants into a healthier environment in some cases. Paving or mulching can be used to and around the garden to keep a mud-free, safe surface for accessing the garden in all weather conditions. |
