Mahi Atua was established over eight years ago and is owned and operated by Jay Paora and Catherine Carbajal-Paora who have lived on Waiheke for almost 20 years.
Jay and Cath enjoy all aspects of landscaping and find the results rewarding – some are more obvious than others but not necessarily more significant. The unseen component of landscaping is often the strength of any design or function and attention to detail is essential.
Jay has 12 years’ experience landscaping on Waiheke Island and is continuing study for a DipHort at Massey University.
Jay has a special interest in track work. He enjoys carving the landscape to enable access to areas and creating usable spaces. Working in difficult terrain is challenging yet possible with various methods of track finding and cutting.
Cath has a DipHort from Massey University and is also continuing her studies for a BApplSc.
Cath gets pleasure from balancing design with environmental factors such as creating and protecting habitats for our native and beneficial creatures.
Cath and Jay appreciate the limitless potential of design and the achievement of the vision. |
